At the western gate to the old town.

The quarter is on Johannisstraße, directly beside the Äußeres Frauentor — a 15th-century gate tower and one of the last surviving gates in Mühlhausen’s largely intact medieval town wall. From here the street leads straight into the historic centre.

Mühlhausen, the “city of towers”, looks back on a rich history as a former Free Imperial City — the base of Thomas Müntzer and once the workplace of Johann Sebastian Bach as an organist. The old town, everyday shopping and cultural life are all within walking distance.
